Fix me a Fixie

Ever since I was little I enjoyed fixing things, building things, and even breaking things. I came upon a style of bike called a Fixie. Its called a Fixie because of its single fixed gear. So as I searched the internet for parts to build me one, I found this bike is gonna be expensive to build. So I thought to myself, "how can I do this this the inexpensive way?"

So my search began. I decided to go with an old bike frame and a single crank. Most Fixies use a 3 piece crank which start at $70 (but are really good).

First I needed a frame I check areas in South Phoenix because there is no "Fixie Scene" there, so they're not going to over charge me for a frame. I checked thrift shops but couldn't find any bikes, but then I saw this little old bike shop on Central Ave. which had a bunch of old bikes in the back. Then I found this...

schwinn frame- rusted

I took it to a shop to remove the kick stand & all the break line tabs which cost me like $50. When I started sanding it down getting ready to paint it, I looked at the frame and it looked so cool that I decided not to paint it. I left it how it was...

If you noticed I removed the shifters on the front even though they were really cool and unique... Im still trying to use them for something. TO BE CONTINUED...
