I hope everyone's start to their new semester is off to a good start!! :)

This time Ross wrote a new article for us of his trips over summer!! I hope you enjoy it!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey everyone, my name is Ross. I hope to meet a lot of you during the school year if I haven’t already. I hope everyone has enjoyed their vacation!
Over the summer vacation I went to New York, Israel and New Jersey. I will cover those three areas today. The time of my vacation was from May 22nd to June 6th of 2012.
The reason I took the trip was to visit family and experience Israel for the first time to see a lot of history and heritage of the Jewish religion.
This is Rhode Island. It had beautiful scenery, but it is also very small. There is not much to do in Rhode Island from what I experienced though.
I took the train to New York several times. I visited places like Kinokuniya, Hard Rock Café and the one of the oldest bars in New York.
After spending a few days in New York and Rhode Island, I left for Israel with a group of forty people.
While in Israel the first area we visited was Jerusalem. We spent time at the Western Wall and visited several museums. A lot of these places requested we did not take photos due to religious reasons though.
After spending a few days hiking and visiting museums, we left for Tiberias to go hike more places and visit the Dead Sea. Along with going to Tiberias we got to have eight Israeli soldiers join us on our Birth-Right trip.
While in Tiberias we went into more poverty stricken areas and got to experience a different side of the culture. Tiberias also has a few military bases that we were lucky enough to visit. Soldiers in the military base gave us information about current weapons that the Israel Defense Forces use.
One of the days in Tiberias we decided to climb Mountain Masada very early in the morning. The day prior to climbing the mountain we rode camels around the camp we would stay at that night. The camel I got to ride threw me off its back a few times before letting me on him though.
The sunrise at Masada was beautiful, but it was cloudy that day, so it was very difficult to get a good picture of it. After we reached the top of the mountain, we had to climb down the opposite end, which proved to me more difficult than the climb up. After getting lunch, we went to the Dead Sea to relax and float around.
We spent about three days in Tiberias. We left to go Tel Aviv, which was a very active part of Israel. Especially in the night life, as going to a club was a very common thing to do at night for people of any age. Tel Aviv is located next to the Mediterranean Sea, so a lot of people spent their time going to the beach, playing sports like valley ball or surfing.
Our last day in Israel had us traveling back to Jerusalem to visit another museum and finally back to the airport to come back to the United States.
The food in Israel was very different than anywhere else I have ate so far. There was a lot of hummus which is a dip or spread that could be added to almost anything. It gave the food a different taste. It was also common to eat falafels, it looks like a meat ball, but it is actually vegetarian. People would often eat both with pita bread.
The last stop on my trip was to New Jersey. New Jersey is only a couple hours away from New York. While in New Jersey I got to see several of the places I went to when I was very young. It was very nostalgic.
